La Sociedad Mexicana en Psicología obliga a los psicólogos y estudiantes, miembros o no de la Sociedad a regirse por el Código Ético, independientemente de ser hombres o mujeres. El psicólogo se comporta de tal manera que preserva el bienestar de los individuos, grupos u organizaciones que requieran de sus servicios.Por lo tanto se adhiere a los siguientes principios: 1.- Respeto a los derechos y dignidad a las personas 2.- Cuidado responsable 3.- Integridad en las relaciones 4.- Responsabilidad social y a la humanidad La falta del conocimiento del Código ético no constituye una defensa por una queja al incurrir en una falta ética. El Código se aplica a toda actividad que realiza el psicólogo, ya sea científica, académica o profesional, es decir, actividades como práctica clínica, diagnóstico, enseñanza, supervisión, instrumentos de valoración, construcción de instrumentos, investigación, valoración a individuos, grupos u organizaciones, intervención social, intervención educativa, o cualquier actividad derivada de estas.
