Today i will learn... - The four basic word classes - how to define what they are - to look at a text and identify them - how writer's use language features to capture the attention of the audience

Write down your own definition of a verb, a noun, an adjective and an adverb. Write them in separate paragraphs. Number each one.

What is a VERB?

A verb is a doing or a being word. It indicates a state of being or an action e.g. 'she was depressed...he ran..' It can indicate presence too e.g. 'she arrived.' .

An adjective is used to describe things. e.g. beautiful, dark, scary, destructive, wonderful, old.' .

What is an adverb?

We use adverbs to describe verbs. e.g. she ran happily, merrily, quietly ' Adverbs usually end in LY.
