The Effects of My Enviroment

Some of things I enjoyed were...

Living in New York

I lived in Tuxedo New York during the winter time where I grew to enjoy the country life and people around me. Staying busy and being apart of a large community, it was easy to get comfortable.

Always activities to do with many friends with every weekend booked for spending time with others.

1. Hiking

Many parks that provide a wonderful escape and diverse hiking trails.

2. Hanging out with friends
3. Exploring

Attractions everywhere! From the bustling city of Manhatten to a small cafe hidden in the hills. Everyday was always an adventure.

4. Being apart of a large community

Surrounded by like-minded individuals was always encouraging and who were very suppportive towards my goals.

Some things I found that were shocking...

Moving back to Texas

My family and I moved to Ladonia, Texas around spring 2017.Freshly coming back from living in the DFW area and New York for most of my life, there were many things I was not expecting.
1. No parks

Living in the country, you'd think there would be parks, trails, or nature preserves. But, alas there were none (that weren't scary)..

2. Old people

Most of the population are old people with a narrow way and traditional way of thinking.

3. Quiet towns

With the population being mostly older ones and farmers, it is fairly quiet. No clubs, attractions, theaters, or many resturants.

4. Smaller communities

As a Christian I am apart of a Christian congregation. However, unlike the ones I've been apart of before, this was 10x smaller with people who are all incredibly introverted.

Ladonia Town Square on a lively weekend.

Ladonia, Texas

A little town with little people really took a toll in my early teen years. I would describe the enviroment as static and sluggish. It was easy to become depressed and stuck in this endless loops.

The Quiet Life

As I got older, my perspective began to change towards this small town and I began to appreciate what I have. Seeing the way others live here, I was truly moved. While I might disagree with many things, all people are doing is surving. With the quietness this place had to offer, it was easier to meditate over my life and reflect.
  • Volunteering in helping others study the Bible.
  • Spend time with others apart of my church despite their age.
  • Helping older ones and assisting them in their needs.
  • Being active in the community by supporting local shops, markets, and small business.
Putting myself out there had really helped me understand the people around me.

I began putting myself out there and taking the initiative to influence and help others around me.Somethings I began doing is...

Taking the Initiative
