Class Attendance
Two options: Synchronous (coming into class during our scheduled time), or Asynchronous(on your own time)It is not required to attend class live, but I highly recommend it. Not only is it more fun, but it means you get all of the answers to the lessons in edio in real-time! Any Live Lesson you do not attend you are required to watch on your own. Live Lessons are worth 5 participation points and the lesson is edio is worth a separate 5 points. You MUST complete both each day for full particpiation. It is recommended that you try and stay on top of what is due each day as much as possible. This course is only one quarter, so it moves very quickly.

Plagiarism and CCA's Honor Code
Plagiarism = Submitting work that you did not create as if it is your own. This includes “getting ideas and work” from the Internet, Artificial Intelligence (ChatGPT, etc.), and/or someone else, and having someone else complete the work for you. Do not use any of these to create responses to lesson and/or assessment questions is not acceptable under any circumstances. These responses are NOT your original work!If evidence of what you submitted as your own work is found on any website or in another student's submission, you will recieve a 0 on that question and will be given ONE warning via an edio chat. After that, you will earn a zero on future plagiarized assignments with no opportunity to resubmit the work and your family will be contacted.

Math Tools
You are always allowed to use a calculator in my Algebra 1 class! However, I do recommend that you use the TI-30XIIS that was sent to you in your materials kit or use the Desmos Scientific Calculator. DO NOT use your phone calculator. It often gives the wrong answer especially when dealing with negative numbers.
In some cases, a link will be provided to you to sign into Demos. This tool will be helpful when it is time to begin graphing inequalities and equations. Mrs. Kline will provide you the link each time it is needed. Please log in using your edio info. The beginning of each lesson contains the guided notes and completed guided notes. The day before tests you will be given a test review that is very similar to your test. On the day of the test, you will be provided with the completed test review. You are allowed to use ANYTHING available to you in edio to help you while taking tests.

Improving Lesson and Assessment Grades
Corrections - You may complete corrections for any test you have taken in Algebra 1.You can earn some points back by correcting any question that you lost points on for a quiz or test. To earn points back, each question must include the following:
- What question number you are correcting
- The correct work and correct answer
- At least one sentence explaining what your mistake was
Reset Lessons - You may request that any lesson be reset for you to complete again unless you have violated CCA's Honor Code.If the assignment you wish to have reset is an assessment (Assignment, Project, Quiz or Test), please see the next two blocks with information on what to do for those. Skipping answers, or typing “idk” or other random letters, numbers, or punctuation will prompt a zero for that lesson. I will reset a lesson ONE TIME upon request. You will not be permitted multiple resets of the same lesson.
Resets and Retakes Tests - You may request ONE retake for each test. After that you must complete corrections to earn points back. With a Retake, you only need to complete questions similar to ones that were marked incorrect or partially correct.

Overdue Work
Catch-Up Plans - After the first marking period, there will be some catch-up plan opportunities if you have fallen behind. Remember, teachers have standards to follow, so assignments and assessments cannot simply be excused without evaluating the impact and value of the work. I do not recommend using edio’s “Catch Me Up” plan for this class; instead, reach out to me for help. Remember, assessments will have a greater impact on your overall grade than daily lessons will. If you get behind with your work, ask me for help! Also, never assume that one teacher's policy on catch-up plans is the same as another's. We each have a different way of doing things so reach out and we can talk about the options.

Netiquette
Netiquette = Rules of conduct for our online learning experience. These guidelines will help us to communicate more effectively, avoid unnecessary misunderstandings, and demonstrate respect for others:
- Pay attention and stay on topic
- Answer questions when asked in class via chat or on mic.
- If speaking on mic, please limit your response to 20 secs or less.
- Do not put personal information in the chat (no social media, phone, or email, etc.)
- Be Respectful!

Contact Me!
Contact with your teacher is critical to your success! You are expected to reach out to your teacher if you have questions or need help. This is most quickly done in edio chat, but a phone call or webmail will work too. If you need help with a specific assignment, a Zoom meeting is the way to go. On the Class Announcements, click on the image with my contact information to access my Bookings link, which is where you can schedule a meeting with me. When you use the Bookings link to schedule, you can see exactly when your teacher is available. The time you choose to book a Zoom or phone call will go directly to your teacher's calendar. Check-in with me at least once per marking period!

Hello! Our names are Toby (left) and Sully (right). Our parents rescued us from their friend's backyard. We love each other so much! I, Toby, am much friendlier than Sully. Sully likes to watch me interact with others, but doesn't always like to do it himself. Juno loves to chase us! Sometimes it is really fun to let her.
