This graph shows an estimate of the population with disabilities in the region, based on the most recent national surveys and censuses that use the Washington Group's short set of questions on functioning. The Washington Group is the working group of the United Nations Statistical Commission for statistics on disabilities. Its primary aim is to provide globally comparable information about disabilities. The short set of questions on functioning asks about a person's level of difficulty in performing activities related to vision, hearing, mobility, concentration, self-care, and communication. The numbers in the graph reflect people with any level of difficulty performing tasks. You can find the short set in the course's additional resources!
If you are developing surveys or analyzing data about disabilities in your projects, we strongly recommend that you review this course's Additional Resources section for more information.
