THE
Sensory Experience
In July 1969, millions of eyes worldwide remained glued to black and white television screens. They were insane about seeing grainy images of astronauts stepping onto the gray and desolate surface of the moon and the american flag standing against a starless, black sky. The people on earth looked everything as the earthrise hovered over the horizon of the Moon, a view that no human eyes had ever seen. Buzz Aldrin called the moon's surface "magnificent desolation," a captured surreal beauty for this moment.
Sight
Sound
It beamed control rooms alike, the beeps and crackles of NASA's radio communication. "Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed," Neil Armstrong's voice through the static music to the ears of millions fans anxiously. Then, on one side, there was complete silence the still of the moon against, on the other, the screams of joy of people were so loudly down on earth.
Taste
There was no meat or a great picnic waitimg for them on the moon for the astronauts, only dehydrated packets of food. Armstrong and Aldrin took a bite of bacon squares, sugar cookies, and beef stew. They tasted flavors that were sterile and processed, loaded with energy to take them through the day's work. Meanwhile on earth, everyone was celebrating with a barbecues because it was sweet a victory.
The astronauts gave an account of how insane was the lunar dust smelled. According to Neil Armstrong, the smell was like "wet ashes" or like "spent gunpowder." The smell of excitement and anticipation filled the air as people across all the earth.
Smell
The sensations of the physical on the moon were not like anything that had ever been experienced on Earth. With each step, they bounced lightly, in the reduced gravity's pull. "The rought texture of the moon was incredile uncomfortable, but its nothing compare to earth, a trully full experience trip" .Aldrin remarked that the moon's surface was "like powdered charcoal" the fine dust crunching throught their boots.
Touch
As Neil Armstrong stepped onto the lunar surface, he famously said, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." This moment did not weigh heavy only on Armstrong's shoulders but on the numerous people worldwide who watched as history unfolded.
