we use the present continuous for things that are happening at the moment of speaking. These things usually last for quite a short time and they are not finished when we are talking about them.

The simple present tense is a verb form used to talk about habits, unchanging situations, facts, and planned events in the near future.

In the third person singular the verb always ends in -sNegative and question forms use DOES (the third person of the auxiliary 'DO') + the infinitive of the verb.

We generally use the past continuous to talk about actions and states in progress (happening) around a particular time in the past. It can emphasise that the action or state continued for a period of time in the past

The past continuous of any verb is composed of two parts : the past tense of the verb "to be" (was/were), and the base of the main verb +ing.

The simple past tense, sometimes called the preterite, is used to talk about a completed action in a time before now.
