It could be just what you liked, making things relatable, showing relationships, using diction, imagery, connecting to society, depth of family relationships, etc,) (slide 5-6)
- Review the 10 secrets of good presenters.
On a sheet of computer paper, artfully present examples of beautiful (link) sentences (minimum 30) from TGC that illustrate a thematic statement in some way.
- The following should be a part of your illustration:
- The title and author of the book should be clear
- A symbol, either from the book or your own imagination, that best represents a thematic statement shown through the quotes. This symbol should somehow be drawn in a way that "pulls your quotes together." Thus, it could be in the middle, at the edges of the page, or both. The image itself could also be made up of the quotes themselves.
- min. 30 sentences
- 1 paragraph explanation on the back of the paper which explains your intentions in the symbol and why it encapsulates your ideas.
- Quotes must be complete sentences
- Visual/symbol inspired by the book
- Consider doing a rough sketch of your symbol in pencil first
- Consider adding color
- Add a 2nd paragraph to explain what makes this book a memoir and how believable is it and why? Identify what you found to be her most stylistic choice in writing, give an example, and explain. (one we pointed out was using comparisons, but this doesn't have to be official. It could be just what you liked, making things relatable, showing relationships, using diction, imagery, connecting to society, depth of family relationships, etc,) (slide 5-6)
- Review the 10 secrets of good presenters.
Create a soundtrack which represents different aspects of the book you have read. Requirements:
- A song that portrays a thematic statement
- A song depicting how one of the characters or a character relationship demonstrates the thematic statement
- A song which reflects the main writing style of the author or what makes this book a memoir and how believable is it and why? Identify what you found to be her most stylistic choice in writing, give an example, and explain. (one we pointed out was using comparisons, but this doesn't have to be official. It could be just what you liked, making things relatable, showing relationships, using diction, imagery, connecting to society, depth of family relationships, etc,) (slide 5-6)
- Review the 10 secrets of good presenters.
- On a separate sheet of paper make a list of the songs you have chosen with text and brief explanation as to why that song fits the text.
