Bloody Sunday
In January 1905 a planned strike of workers leadered by Father Georgy Gapon presented themselves at the winter palace to present a request directly to the Tsar Nicholas II (who was not in the city at the time) and the chief of security police Nichola`s uncle in an attempt to stop the march ordered to fire to the demonstrators
1905 Revolution
After Bloody Sunday and the humiliating loss against Japan in the Russo-Japanese War the people of Russia were dissatisficed with the Tsar, the protests ranged to from strikes to riots, the general strike and even terrorist assassinations which led to the creation of the Duma in October of the same year
World War 1
In the times of World War 1 the Tsar in an attempt to look better with the Russian people led the country to the front lines which ended up backfiring by exposing the suffering of the people and the weaknesses of the regime and even sending troops without guns. This costed the nation a lot of resources and a lot of men were murdered causing even more discomfort in the Russian population
The Assasination of Rasputin
Felix Yusopov was an aristocrat that married into the Romanov family who plotted the assassination of Rasputin in an attempt to give the image he was a patriot and a man of action after he refused to enlist in the military in W.W.1,in his memoirs he recalls that he invited Rasputin to meet his wife and in that meeting he served him cakes and wine laced with potassium cyanide which to his surprise didn’t appear to work and in the desperation he borrowed a revolver and shot Rasputin multiple times but Rasputin was still resisting death, rumors spread that water was found in his lungs indicating he drowned to death although the autopsy records don’t mention poison or drowning instead they showed Rasputin was shot in the head
The February Revolution
The February revolution is one of 2 revolutions that took place in 1917, on February 22 workers in Petrograd went on strike and the following day they were joined by female protesters marching against food rationing and demanding the replacement of the tsar and the end of the war while Nicholas II was still in the frontlines, when he returned he ordered the commander to suppress the riots by force but the troops refused this led to the Tsar abdicate himself from the throne in march 2 1917 ending a 300 year regime to an end.
The Provisional Government
The provisional government was formed by the duma after the collapse of the Romanov regime, this government was leaded by Aleksandr F. Kerensky and only lasted from February to October before it got overthrown by the Bolsheviks in a bloodless coup.
The Bloshevik Revolution
In October 1917 the Bolshevik party led by Vladimir Lenin launched a bloodless coup against the provisional government in which they occupied government buildings and strategic locations in Petrograd and overthrew Kerensky to form a new government with Lenin spearheading the whole project
The assasination of the Romanovs
After the Tsar abdicated his throne in 1917 him and his family were arrested by the provisional government on march 7 1917, in August they were transported to Tobolsk located in Siberia and put in house arrest in this is where they learned about the Bolshevik revolution, in April 1918 they were moved to Yekaterinburg the place in where they will end up dying, in July 1918 at approximately 1:30 am the Romanovs were woken up and instructed to pack up and to go to the basement room because they were going to be taken away but at that moment the firing squad was let in and shoot the family completing the mission in 30 minutes.
The Civil War
The civil war was a conflict in which the red army fought the white army from 1917 to 1921 which erupted because of the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk in which Russia yielded large portions of the territory to Germany causing tensions between the communists and the left socialist revolutionaries which ended up with a war between both sides that the red army ended up winning because of the strategical genius of Lev Trotsky.
