1961

Martin Luther King spoke at a mass meeting at Shiloh Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia where the Albany Movement began. The day after MLK spoke he and Ralph Abernathy and hundreds of others involved in the protest were arrested, charged with obstructing the sidewalk and parading without a permit. With MLK in jail, theprotests continued andt the arrests too. Two days after being in jail, Martin and Abernathy were told their bail had been paid by an anonymus Black man, and they were released.Dexter Scott, MLK third child, is born.

MLK was arrested again in Atlanta during one of the many protest hat the S.C.L.C. promoted in USA. He organized and led protest for black voting rights, labor rights, and other basic civil rights.

1959

MLK got to live his dream owith his wife and went on a trip to many cities in India following Gandhi who he admaired because he thaught of him as the"guiding light of nonviolent social change."

1944

At t 15, years old MLK, Jr. started his freshman year at Morehouse College. He graduated at 19 years old , and then went to Crozer Theological Seminary in Chester, Pennsylvania

1955-1956

In December 1955 he became the leader of the first major nonviolent African-American bus boycott, it lasted 382 daysOn December 21, 1956, after the U.S. Supreme Court declared laws requiring equality on bus rides, all the african americans and white people got to sit on the buses as equals for the first time.( During these days of protesting, MLK was arrested, his house was bombed, and he was personal abuse.)

1935

In his childhood, Martin used to play with a white boy whose father owned the store in front of his house. When he turned six, they started going to different schools and the boy stopped playing with Martin. Martin asked the white boy no longer playing with him.Martin was a newspaper deliveryman and wanted to be a firefighter when he grew up. His father was a Baptist minister and he was responsible of teaching the kids about morals and religion

1954-1956

in 1955 he became pastor of Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama.he was already a member of the executive committee of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

1957

In 1957 MLK was elected president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, an organization for civil rights movement. he took advantage of the black churches to do nonviolent protests to win civil rights and equality for people of color. He appears on the cover of Time magazine. Martin attends the independence celebrations of the new nation of Ghana in West Africa and meets with Prime Minister Kwame Nkrumah.Coretta King gives birth to their second child, Martin, III.

1957

Martin was arrested in Montgomery accused of disturbing public order, but the immediate protest of the black community got him released the same day as his arrest.He exposed on his first published book his point of view about injustices of the black people

The Atlanta Constitution publishes King’s letter to the editor stating that black people “are entitled to the basic rights and opportunities of American citizens.”

Martin graduates from Crozer with a bachelor of divinity degree, and then Martin begins his graduate studies in systematic theology at Boston University.

1951

Martin becames the assistant of a pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. In June MLKreceives hi bachelor of arts degree in sociology from Morehouse College.In 14 September Martin begins his studies at Crozer Theological Seminary in Chester,Pennsylvania.

1948

King and Coretta Scott are married at the Scott home near Marion, Alabama.

1953

MLK is awarded his doctorate in systematic theology from Boston University.In 17 November their first child s born (Yolanda Denise King)At a big meeting at Holt Street Baptist Church, the Montgomery Improvement Association (MIA) is formed and Martin becomes its president.

1955

King is arrested at an Albany, Georgia prayer vigil and jailed. After spending two weeks in jail, he is releasedIn 28 September During the closing session of the SCLC conference in Birmingham Alabama, a member of the American Nazi Party assaults King, hitting him twice in the face.

1962

Bernice Albertine, MLK fourth child, is born.Martin's book of sermons, is published.King delivers his “I Have a Dream” speech. After the march, King and other civil rights leaders meet with President John F. Kennedy and

1963

King is named “Man of the Year” by Time MagazineMartin,s book Why We Can’t Wait is published. MLK is arrested and jailed for demanding service at a white-only restaurant in St. Augustine, Florida.King receives the Nobel Peace Prize at a ceremony in Oslo, Norway. He declares that “every penny” of the $54,000 award will be used in the ongoing civil rights struggle.

1964

MLK delivers “Beyond Vietnam” speech in a Church in New York City. He demands that the U.S. take new initiatives to end the war. King’s book Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community? is published in December Martin publicly reveals his plans to organize a mass civil disobedience campaign, the Poor People’s Campaign, in Washington, D.C., to force the government to end poverty.

1967

MLK leads a march of six thousand protesters in support of striking health for workers, the march becomes violent , and Martin gets out from the scene. In April King returns to Memphis, determined to lead a peaceful march. D He delivers his final speech, “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop.” 4 April King is shot and killed while standing on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphin and on the 9 of April King is buried in Atlanta.
