The Natural and History Museum is one of the largest and most important natural history museums in the world, located in South Kensington and houses some of the most important national natural history collections and over 70 million specimens organized in four areas: botany, Mineralogy, paleontology and zoology. It is an outstanding and highly interactive museum, and is also a major research institute.

Where is it located?

Tourists can visit most of the museum in about 2-3 hours, and admission is free, except for some temporary exhibitions. The museum is divided into two parts: the Life Galleries, with areas dedicated to zoology, paleontology and human biology, and the Earth Galleries, with areas dedicated to the history of the Earth, Geology and Mineral Resources. There are 20 galleries and they are divided into four zones with a different color:- the blue zone, from dinosaurs to mammals;- the green zone for evolution of the planet;- the red zone is dedicated to the planet;- the orange zone, which include the Darwin Center, one of the museum's main attraction.

The Galleries

In the red zone, you can discover the world and its changes through simulations. Tourists can also admire the thermal suits and equipment used by scientists to study volcanoes, casts of some victims of the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D. and various techniques to defend themselves from earthquakes.
