3.1

Perpendicular bisector

3.1 PERPENDICULAR BISECTOR OF A SEGMENT

The perpendicular bisector of a line segment AB is the perpendicular to the segment AB which passes through its midpoint M.

To draw it, it is needed to follow the next steps:

  1. Place your compass on endpoint A of segment AB and open it to more than half the length of the segment. Then, draw two arcs.
  2. With your compass opened to the same width as before, place the compass at endpoint B and draw two more arcs that will cross the other two at points M and N.
  3. Join these two points to get the perpendicular bisector.
