Learning theories developed and incorporated new information over time and space. Whether they are Observable or Unobservable Indivistualic or Social Holistic or Focused Student or Teacher-Centered Will continue to influence learning and teaching

Behaviorism

The process of increasing or decreasing an observable behavior with punishments and rewards. "The Man Theory" "If I do it wrong enough times, she will stop asking me to do it." - Estranged Father. Occurred: Porter, TXAge: 13 2024−36+13 = Year People have been utilizing behaviorism to manipulate one another without realizing it for millennia.

Cognitivism Influenced by external and internal elements.

Metacognition Awareness of the brain's thoughts and thought processes. Currently reading each learning theory and how to apply it to situations and to others while struggling to recall specific memories. Occurred: Houston Age: 36 Now

Social Cognitive Theory

Social cognitive theory states learning happens in a social context and is impacted by the person, environment, and behavior.Learning and following social norms such as raising hands for questions and standing in single-file for lunchtime. Cognitive Behavioral Theory

Humanism

It focuses on the individual's capacity for growth, including the learner's values, beliefs, and freedom of choice. The professor allows groups to choose a topic, take stances, and defend their positions, with the option to change the topic/subject. However, a student specifically wanted to curve the outcome of the relationship between queer couples adopting children. The student, unable to find harmful outcomes, was forced to learn and defend the opposite of their personal views. Occurred: University of Houston Clear Lake, TX 2024−36+24 = Year Age: 20 something

Connectivism

People learn and grow while forming connections through hobbies, work, and social interactions. I attended a crowded Women's Rights discussion when a woman mentioned DACA. At the time, I worked with DACA/Undocumented students. I chased her, got her number, and together learned and bridged undocumented resources from the non-profit organization United We Dream with the Dream Scholars at the University of Houston.

Transformative Learning

Learners continuously add and re-evaluate personal thought processes, beliefs, and values. "Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack," to understand my privilege as a white woman in a gender and race studies course. While continuously adjusting to include intersectionalism, ableism (invisible and visible), and how each identity plays a role within myself, others, and society. Occurred: University of Houston Clear Lake, TX 2024−36+24 = Year Age: 20 something to cremation

Experinetial Learning Theory

People learn through experience, creating new skills, and retaining and applying them when engaged in activities and reflection. Started as the Graduate Academic Advisor for Biomedical Engineers at the University of Houston in May. While meeting with the Graduate School Scholarships representative to create the TA/RA waiver spreadsheet, upload a completed spreadsheet to Sharepoint, and correct errors.

Self-Directed Learning

Learner initiated for personal growth, knowledge development, taking on an active role seeking knowledge and understanding. I completed several LinkedIn Learning certificates to better understand and increase efficiency using Excel and Sharepoint. While enjoying the little badges is a behavioristic approach. Self Efficacy

The theory of motivation in one's sense of self provides the foundation of well-being and personal accomplishment through influences, experiences, social interactions, and emotions - about their ability to complete a task. Safely and confidently saying, "I can do it," and mean it. I recently set a boundary within my department, stating that this job function is listed as the pay grade above my current job title. Outcome: New title, same pay.
