Respiratory Distress
An interaction continuing education delivery
Let's get started!
Lets start with an overview
The respiratory system is responsible for breathing and exchanging gases (oxygen and carbon dioxide) between the body and the environment. It is divided into TWO main sections: upper and lower respiratory tracts.
next
Upper Respiratory Tract:
Nasal Cavity: The large air-filled space above and behind the nose that filters, warms, and humidifies incoming air.Oral Cavity: The mouth, which can also be used to intake air, particularly during heavy breathing or when the nasal passage is blocked.Pharynx: A muscular tube that connects the nasal and oral cavities to the larynx and esophagus.Larynx (Voice Box): Located at the top of the trachea, the larynx helps in breathing, sound production, and protecting the trachea against food aspiration.

Lower Respiratory System:
Trachea (Windpipe): A tube that connects the larynx to the bronchi, serving as the main passageway for air to enter the lungs. The trachea is lined with cilia that help filter out debris and dust from the air.Bronchi: Two main branches (right and left bronchi) that extend from the trachea into each lung. The right bronchus is shorter, wider, and more vertical than the left. These further branch into smaller bronchi within each lung.Bronchioles: Smaller branches of the bronchi that further subdivide into even smaller airways throughout the lungs. These bronchioles lead to the alveoli.Alveoli: Tiny air sacs at the end of the bronchioles where the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide takes place. The alveoli are surrounded by capillaries and have thin walls to allow gases to pass easily between the air and the blood.

common Diseases and conditions of the upper airway
Allergic Reactions (Anaphylaxis)Cause: Severe allergic reactions can cause swelling of the airway (angioedema), particularly in the larynx and throat, leading to a narrowed airway and stridor.Symptoms: Stridor, difficulty breathing, swelling of the lips and face, hives, low blood pressure, and possible shock.Croup (Laryngotracheobronchitis)Cause: A viral infection (commonly parainfluenza) that causes swelling in the larynx, trachea, and bronchi, leading to stridor, especially in children.Symptoms: Barking cough, hoarseness, stridor (particularly worse at night), and difficulty breathing.Foreign Body AspirationCause: Inhalation of a foreign object (such as a piece of food or a small toy) can block or partially obstruct the upper airway, causing stridor.Symptoms: Sudden onset of stridor, choking, coughing, difficulty breathing, and potentially cyanosis (blue skin).

Did you know that Genially allows you to share your creation directly, with no need to download? All ready for your audience to view it from any device and share it anywhere. We don’t like to bore. We don’t want to be repetitive. Communicating in the same old ways is boring and doesn’t engage people. We do it differently. We annihilate boredom. We create things the brain likes to consume because they stimulate it. Pose a dramatic question; this is the essential ingredient for holding the audience's attention. It is usually posed in an intriguing way at the beginning of the story to captivate the audience and is resolved at the end.

Visual content is a transversal, universal language, like music. We can understand images from millions of years ago, even from other cultures. We generally grasp visual content better. Visual content is associated with cognitive and psychological mechanisms. We receive things through our eyes; the first image is what counts. We associate visual content with emotions. Our brains are hardwired to consume visual content. Some facts: we receive 90% of the information we process through sight and we process visual content up to 60,000 times faster than text. That’s why visual communication is more effective.

With the Genially templates, you can include visual resources to wow your audience. You can also highlight a particular sentence or piece of information so that it sticks in your audience’s minds, or even embed external content to surprise them: Whatever you like!Do you need more reasons to create dynamic content? No problem! 90% of the information we assimilate reaches us via sight and, what’s more, we retain 42% more information when the content moves.Yep, you read that right. Interactivity and animation can turn even the most boring content into something super fun. In Genially, we use AI (Awesome interactivity) in all our designs so that you can level up with interactivity and turn your content into something that engages and provides value.
