Hovenweep National Monument is located on land in southwestern Colorado and southeastern Utah, between Cortez, Colorado and Blanding, This was built by the Ancestral Puebloans.

The hovensweep was said to be built as a community center or perhaps a spiritual center for the famers in the canyon.

During the solstices and equinoxes, light enters the castle doorway and marks corners and doorways on the interior.

This castle was also built for a stronghold for the ancient puebloans, as well as a religious center
