One of my most inspiring phrase is:“It is not that the poet seeks solitude, it is that he finds it.”.

Anecdote

I leave an indispensable legacy that makes the country of my birth proud, in whose works I placed the role of women and the cultural plurality of the country at the center of the discussion.Among my prose works are the novels Balún Canán, winner of the Chiapas Prize, and Oficio de Tinieblas, winner of the Sor Juan Inés de la Cruz Prize, as well as Ciudad Real, winner of the Xavier Villaurrutia Prize.

Extra Information

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut laoreet dolore magna aliquam erat volutpat.

The Universities of Rosario Castellanos bear my name in homage to my important cultural and literary legacy, and to my fight for the rights of women and indigenous peoples.

My parents were Adriana Figueroa and César Castellanos, who formed a conservative or typical family of the time, my father worked while my mother was a housewife, also had a notable and clear preference for my brother Benjamin, this just for being a boy, this preference remained even after the death of my brother at age seven in 1933, I felt guilty for being me who was still alive and not my brother, I was raised by my nanny Rufina, who brought me closer to the indigenous reality.

I am one of the most recognized Mexican writers both nationally and internationally. I combine my creative work with cultural promotion, teaching, journalism and diplomacy.
