¿Que es firebird?

Es un potente gestor de base de datos relacional (DBMS) de código abierto, es decir, no comercial, que opera bajo los estándares de SQL, tanto de sintaxis como de tipo de datos. Está basado en la versión 6 de Interbase, cuyo código fue liberado por la empresa de software Borland.
