The News 11 October 2024 - St Bede's

Dear Parents,ul one for our house. Our year 13 house catechist, Evie Minchella, took a visit to Oxford for a retreat. Our year 9 hockey players, Amiya, Grace, Mary, Rose, and Katherine are the Yorkshire county champions! They competed in all 3 rounds of the tournament, going undefeated in all of the matches. We are incredibly proud of our girls! On the academic front, our Year 13 and Year 11 students have hit the ground running on their studies, setting themselves up for massive succeses in exam season. The Year 12's are enjoying starting A Levels and getting to hone in on the subjects they are most interested in. Overall we have had a lovely week in Bede's and are looking forward to our house retreat in Whitby next thursday! Warmest regards, Charmaine

TUTOR OF THE WEEK

'On a trip to a vineyard whilst attending Italian school in Florence over the summer'

My name is Rebekah Lally, and I'm delighted to have joined the house team in St Bede's as tutor to Year 9 this year! This is my third year working at Ampleforth, where I'm currently an apprentice English (and occasional Drama) teacher. Not only am I an Old Amplefordian, I'm also an old Bede's girl, so I'm overjoyed to be back home having spent the last two years gaining experience in other boarding houses around the school. Before deciding to work in education I trained as a classical singer, so I look forward to working with the girls on their House Recital, and our submission for the whole school Singing Competition.

STUDENTS OF THE WEEK!

Tilly Williams and Saphy Lees are both Y12 students of our House. Tilly has been with us since Y10 and has made the house brighter and bubblier since she came! This week in particular she got two postive AP's in fitness for her super endurance and perseverance! Saphy joined this Autumn term and is a brilliant student of CT, Chemistry, and History. Her teachers are incredibly proud of her academic excellence. We are so lucky to have these girls in our House- stay tuned for next week when we announce the new... STUDENT OF THE WEEK!

Tilly and Saphy!!!
