mATERIAL nEEDED
- If using printer paper: Fold one corner to the opposite edge
- Cut off excess paper to make a square
- Fold the square diagonally both ways
- Fold in half horizontally and vertically
- Result: Paper with creases in both directions
Preparing your paper
- Tilt the paper like a diamond
- Bring two opposite corners to the center
- Fold along the edges to create a smaller square
- Result: Four triangular flaps, keep them on the bottom
Creating the base
- Fold the top layer's sides to the center crease
- Flip over and repeat on the other side
- Optional: Slightly crease the top part
- Open up all four sides
forming the body
- Fold the bottom flap up along the crease
- Fold inside creases inward
- Let it fall together into a new shape
- Repeat on the other side
- Fold corners to the center on both sides
Shaping the Crane
- Pull out and refold edges for wing details
- Push down the top point
- Pinch to create the beak
Final Touches
- Take your time with each fold
- Make crisp, clean creases
- Practice makes perfect
- Try different paper sizes and patterns
- Experiment with other origami designs once you master the crane
