ELA
My name is Miss Hodder. This will be my 5th year at CCA and I am very excited to spend it with you!

Breaks, breaks, breaks! We will take breaks between each section with other brain breaks built in as needed. The length of time we spend learning skills in ELA will allow us to work hands on and practice our skills more. Last year we had AM ELA and PM ELA, this year, they're justboth squished together.
What does ELA look like this year?
Word Study
Word study is the part of ELA that focuses on reading and spelling words. We will practice listening for sounds in words and matching sounds to letters and read short stories as we learn about new sound-spellings.
Reading
In Reading, we will explore many different books, learn new vocabulary words, and skills and strategies to help understand the story.
Writing
In Writing, we will practice writing each day. You will learn how to write many things. You will work on small writing assignments and will show your teacher how your skills are growing.
On My Own
You will have the opportunity to practice your reading skills on your own through i-Ready reading (45 minutes/week), Raz-Kids, or Independent Reading. You will also have the opportunity to practice your typing skills through Keyboarding Without Tears.
Handwriting
Handwriting is included as an optional, but highly encouraged, follow-up activity meant to help you practice writing letters, words and sentences. Using your best handwriting helps you grow as a writer.

live classes
Live classes, like today and tomorrow, will be a bit different. We will practice what we've learned, read a story, or work on writing. We may not meet for the full block on these days.

Got an idea?
Let the communication flow!
With Genially templates, you can include visual resources to wow your audience. You can also highlight a particular sentence or piece of information so that it sticks in your audience’s minds, or even embed external content to surprise them: Whatever you like!Do you need more reasons to create dynamic content? No problem! 90% of the information we assimilate is received through sight and, what’s more, we retain 42% more information when the content moves.
- Generate experiences with your content.
- It’s got the Wow effect. Very Wow.
- Make sure your audience remembers the message.
