ACTION VERBS
Verbs that describes someone or something doing an action, moving or changing.
EXAMPLE: HE IS PLAYING SOCCER.
STATIVE VERBS
Not describe an action, movement or change. They are often used in the simple present
EXAMPLE: I WANT A NEW CAR
VERBS WITH BOTH USES
Some verbs can be both action verbs and stative verbs

Would rather... than has the same meaning as prefer... to.I´d rather play basketball than eatch it on TV. = I prefer playing basketball to watching it on TV.
If we know what is being compared just use would rather: She doesn´t want to watch a reality show. She would rather watch a sitcom.The short form of would:I´d rather play basketball.She´d rather watch a sitcom.
Simpler forms
Compare two actions: I would rather play basketball than watch it on TV. In questions, you can use or to compare two option: Would he rather go out or stay home?
