Three Resources that Differentiate the Curriculum

iReady

This is one of my favorites to use to apply personalized instruction. As a teacher, you can scaffold the skills to adapt them to the needs of each student. The lessons are very engaging with lots of visuals for our English Language Learners which make their learning more meaningful and productive. iReady has assessments that help us to monitor the student's learning and mastering the objective. It generates diagnostics after each assessment and give us a clear report of what needs to be reinforced to keep supporting our students.

EdPuzzle

Achieve 3000

This is an accelerated program that we used in our district where students are expose to different types of genres that are based on their lexile level. This program can be implemented by teachers in ELA, Science, and Social Studies. For K-2 we use SmartyAnts resource to improve students' foundational skills. 3-6 they used Accelerated Reader to improve students' readiness and comprehension.

Its is an amazing resource to provide differentiated instruction for our students. EdPuzzle allows students to interact to each other during the read alouds and it allows teachers to add comprehension questions about the story. I like using EdPuzzle as an extra resource to connect students learning with their personal experiences. The main purpose of this resource is to provide student with their own time to practice what they have learned to become more independent. It is great to apply it during interventions time for small or whole group.

3 Resources that Enrich the Curriculum

My favorite resource used at our school to provide enrichment and extension to our reading block. It is an amazing resource to promote fluency in reading, to develop thinking skills, and to promote inquiry and curiosity among students. The physical reading informational articles are very resourceful to use in the classroom and at home. They have important information that teachers, parents, and students can learn, develop, and work together as a team.

Storyline has lots of story videos that help teachers to enrich their teaching inside the classroom. It is a resource that supports our visuals learners by seeing and understanding the lesson. It also supports our auditory learners because they are acquiring and practicing their listening skills during story time. Storyline uses the YouTube platform to play the video.

This is the Google version website designed only for kids. It is a very secure website adapted for students to do their research work in a safely manner. The website only displays kid-oriented results and all its content is written in a friendly form for students' understanding. Moreover, students' personal information is not requiered at all in this site making it more safely to use.

IXL

Resources for

Kahoot

Fostering Collaboration

Self-Directed

IXL is a very recommended platform for teachers, parents, and students. It is a great tool that fosters self-directed learning. Teachers are able to set goals for students by assigning personalized lessons for students' mastery of a specific content. IXL promotes students' ownership of thier learning since the beginning. Lessons start from basic and they are getting complex as the student is showing progress. It is offer for grades K-12 including subjects like math, reading, writing, social studies, and science. In addition, as a teacher you are able to see real-life diagnostic of how the students are doing in their lessons. IXL also provides students with special awards depending on their lessons progression.

Kahoot platform is an effective resource that helps teachers to foster collaboration among teachers and students and students to students. By using Kahoot, teachers are able to engage their class by reviewing a lesson using interactive kahoots assigned to students' groups. This kahoots support students' collaboration at school and at home as well. Students are able to play individually or in groups depending on your quiz choice. It is a great resource that allows playing learning and that students really like it. Students are challenged and feedback can be provided right away to adjust instruction.

Resources that Supports Promoting Cultural Diversity

This is an activity implemented at our school to promote cultural diversity in the classroom. Our school hosts a literacy night event where parents are invited to come to our school to share a special dessert that represents their culture. During the literacy night, teachers engage students with different hands-on activities to build positive relationships with parents and students. The next month we do a math night event with a different activity for parents to share about their culture.

Multicultural Literacy Night

Holiday Celebrations

One resource that help us to incorporate and promote cultural diverity is the activity holiday celebrations in the classroom. Identify the ones related to your students and create an activity that involves learning about that holiday tradition. Reading a book is a good connection to make with the different ways all celebrate a holiday. It also promotes class discussions and fosters students' collaboration and understanding of different cultures and traditions.

"By celebrating the diversity within your classroom, you can enrich your students’ learning experiences and help them expand their social circles". (Continental, 2023.)
