"Triple Bottom Line: Driving Sustainable Growth in Health Tech"
The Triple Bottom Line is a sustainability framework that balances three critical dimensions: social equity, environmental stewardship, and economic viability. This approach ensures that businesses contribute positively to society, protect the environment, and maintain economic growth. (¿Qué Es El Triple Resultado Final? | IBM, n.d.)
Aligning My Work with the SDGs:Objective ODSIn my role, I focus on informing and analizing that our company's strategies not only drive economic growth but also promote sustainability with strategies such as inclusive practices. For instance, in Medtronic’s Tijuana plant, the majority of the workforce are predominantly women, as they are engaged in the meticulous work of handcrafting medical devices using microscopes. And Globally we are aimaing to having at least 45% of administrative roles occupied by women. This highlights our commitment to gender equity and sustainable employment practices. (Medtronic)The justification of my work:My primary objective is to secure CEMEFI certification as a benchmark for our social responsibility efforts. To achieve this, the report will address how the three pillars of social, environmental, and economic responsibility are being integrated acrss our regional operations in Mexico, Costa Rica, and Panama. The report will highlight the role of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and regional social action plans in fostering a more inclusive and diverse workplace, ensuring alignment with equity and human rights. By consolidating these efforts, I aim to make such certifications and strategies more prevalent in the future. While one might expect corporate social responsibility to be advanced in Mexico by 2024, the reality is that most multinationals are still justifying these indicators, and it may take even longer for SMEs to follow suit. Philanthropy vs. Social Responsibility
- Philanthropy involves short-term, reactive actions like donations aimed at immediate needs and positive publicity, often not aligned with core business objectives.
- Social Responsibility is a long-term, proactive approach integrated into business strategy, balancing social, environmental, and economic goals to ensure sustainable impact and alignment with global standards like the SDGs.
