General and Super AI are only theoretical at this time.

The only AI available to us currently is Narrow AI.

Levels/Types of Artificial Intelligence

Autonomous Goal Setting

Will devise and implment actions towards goals that are not given to the ASI by humans.

Advanced Cognitive Functions

Will possess traits such as self-awareness, creativity, and emotional intelligence

Surpasses Human Intelligence

Problem solving and decision making skills are superior to humans' decision making and problem solving skills.

Highly Efficient

Some medical ANI tools are faster and more accurate at reading medical images like mammograms or x-rays than humans.

Not Adaptable

A chess-playing ANI tool may be able to beat a human at chess every time but could not play a game of checkers.

Task Specific

ANI tools specialize in one area and solve one kind of problem. Text generators can only generate text and cannot generate video.

Learns Autonomously

Can learn, understand, solve problems, and make connections across multiple fields of study without programming for any specific task. An AGI tool could, if given a library of scientificdata, synthesize the information, identify gaps in knowledge, create experiments and incorporate the results into its knowledge bank.

Adaptable

Transitions between tasks without new programming. An AGI tool could write a fantasy novel, then move onto analyzing financial markets before proposing new experiments for breast cancer research.

Human-like

Possesses attributes like common sense, background knowledge, and learning transfer. An AGI tool could understand nuance and idioms in a conversation.
