The Brain!
Can you label the parts of the brain?
Parts of the Brain
Cerebrum
Brain Stem
Cerebellum
Cerebellum:
- back of brain
- controls movement, posture, balance
Cerebrum
Cerebrum:
- largest
- language, senses, reasoning
- 2 hemispheres
Cerebellum
Brain Stem
Brain Stem:
- lowest
- connects brain to spinal cord
- controls unconscious functions
Parts:
- Cerebrum
- Cerebellum
- Brain Stem
Cerebral Cortex
- outer layer of cerebrum
- divided into four lobes
Temporal Lobe
Frontal Lobe
Occipital Lobe
Parietal Lobe

Cerebral Cortex
Cranium:
- protects the brain against physical injuries
- maintains constant pressure in and around the brain
You may be asking yourself... if the brain is so important, how do we protect it?
Helmets!
- hard outer shell to take the intial impact (cranium)
- soft inner liner that absorbs the energy (meninges & cerebrospinal fluid)
Of course, we can wear helmets!
Receives information from the eyes and is responsible for vision
