INTRODUCTION
The Free and Sovereign State of Nuevo León was named by Spanish conquistadors in 1579 in honor of the Kingdom of León. It is located in northeastern Mexico and is one of the thirty-one states that, together with Mexico City, make up the country. Its capital and most populous city is Monterrey, and it is divided into 51 municipalities. In terms of climate, it can be divided into three regions: a dry plain in the north, a temperate zone in the mountainous areas, and a plateau where the climate is mostly dry.
