SUMMARY
READ and watch: a year of films
Are you a book lover? Or do you prefer to watch a good film? Are books better than films? Stories can come in different ways and formats. There is no one better than the other, it is just a question of preferences. Books develop your imagination, are much more detailed, improve your vocabulary and keep you longer company. Meanwhile films are socially better, quicker to watch and have more visual input.
What it is undeniable is that books and films have been always hand in hand. In fact, there are lots of book adaptations into the big screen. No matter if you are a fan of books or films. This year we are going to both read and watch. Are you ready for a year of films? Lights, camera, action!!!

1. suspense with Alfred Hitchcock
Why do so many people love watching suspense films? The answer is quite clear: they make us feel in tension. Being in a continuous state of uncertainty for two full hours is fascinating to our brains. We unconsciously choose to see these specific movies because we feel the need to light up our minds with the stimulation that only a state of suspense can provide. Let´s see the characteristics of this genre by the hands of the most famous director of all times: sir Alfred Hitchcock. Just click on the image to start.
2. HORROR with CHRISTOPHER LEE
The horror genre is designed to shock, scare, and provoke the audience. It can be split into various sub-genres such as gothic, paranormal, and slasher, but the aim is almost always the same: to frighten its audience. Its popularity has expanded over the last few years, gaining more and more supporters every day. Why is this genre so appealing? Well, the appeal is directly tied to the ‘panicked’ feeling of witnessing scary situations, or of seeing relatable characters face off against ‘bad guys’. They may also feel: the thrill of danger, the sense of urgency, the emotion of breaking the rules... Let´s follow Christopher Lee, considered the best Dracula ever, into this terrifying genre. 3. COMEDY & CHRISTMAS with Rowan Atkinson
We all need a bit of laughter in our lives. Laughter strengthens our immune system, boosts mood, diminishes pain, and protects us from the damaging effects of stress. It is true: a good laugh is strong medicine. That´s why one of the favourite film genres is COMEDY. A comedy is a very popular type of movie. Some comedy movies have "slapstick comedy," in which people just do silly things such as tripping, falling over or embarrassing themselves just to make people laugh. Other comedy movies show funny stories or situations in which people are behaving in a silly manner. Some comedies make the audience laugh by showing strange or unusual images or situations that do not make sense. Let´s have some fun with one of the best British comedians of all times: Rowan Atkinson, also known as Mr. Bean. Click on the image to get into the spirit of Christmas.

Epic historical films would usually take a historical or a mythical event and add an extravagant setting and lavish costumes, accompanied by an expansive musical score with an ensemble cast, which would make them among the most expensive of films to produce. The most common subjects of epic films are royalty, and important figures from various periods in world history.
