A syllabus is a structured guide of how content will be delivered to learners. It describes the aim of the teacher and the desirable outcomes of the learners. It lists the lessons to be taught, methodology to be used, description and due dates of activities and type of assessments to be delevoped.

The syllabus details the objectives, and requirements of a course. It provides a complete structure for the learning experience. It describes in detail the topics covered in the course and the teaching and assessment patterns.

1. The syllabus generally has explicit objectives, usually declared at the beginning of the document.2. It is a public document visible for teachers, learners, authorities, researchers, trainers, etc.3. It may list recommended materials and preferred methodology or approach to be used.
Characteristics
1. The syllabus shows the information related to a particular subject, while the curriculum gives the guidelines for an entire programme.2. The curriculum is designed by the school and is the same for every teacher, while the syllabus are created by teachers and are developed at their own style.3. The curriculum covers the whole programme, while the syllabus covers the period the subject lasts.
