What is a Walkthrough Observation?

Adminstrative Staff utilize a Walkthough Observation Form to evaluate the lesson in progess.

The observation focuses on Performance Standards:

  • 2 - Instructional Planning
  • 3 - Instructional Delivery
  • 5 - Learning Environment

Evidence of Planning

Lesson plans are available

Learning Intentions and Success Criteria are posted, visible and aligned to a competency.

Performance Standard 2: Instructional Planning

The teacher plans using the Virginia Standards of Learning, the school’s curriculum, effective strategies, resources, and data to meet the needs of all students.

Materials are available and ready for the lesson

Pacing is evident
