What is Swim Gen?
SwimGEN
Swim Gen is an online platform that can be used to create and store evaluations. In our case we use it for swimmers. We have created check marks for each level that a swimmer needs to complete in order to pass on to the next level. This makes the evalution process simple for instructors. ** To the right is a picture of what the evals look like **
Getting in
How to login to swim GEn
Search up Swim Gen in your web browser. It should be the first thing that pops up swimgen.net. Click on it and on the top right click login.
Your account
Click to go to the swim gen website
Once you successfully opened the webpage use the the login provided within this email. USERNAME: Name#2025 ***YOUR NAME**** PASSWORD: Aquatics#2025 ***** Same password for everyone*****
You're in!
Once you've succesfully logged in you can search for your students via their swim gen number or their name
Finding a Swimmer
First
First you have to go to the find a swimmer tab. On a computer it will be on the left hand side of the screen **click arrow for picture*** There are two ways to look up a swimmer by name and number
Name
Look up the swimmers name and it should pop up
By number
In order to write an evaluation for a swimmer they need to already be inputted in the system. This is done by Cassie, if for some reason you do not see one of your swimmers a deck superivisor or Cassie can enter it for you
Every swimmer in the system is assigned a number with their name so you can also look up their number as well.
Creating a report
Login & find swimmer
This will be what creating a report would look like for a level 3 swimmer, remember that the bullet points for each level will be different but the idea of creation for each report will be similar!

Most important notes
Never remove checks
A swimmer cannot level down
Remember these evals are a reflection of you, and your teaching abilities if a swimmer is not progressing be honest in these evals do not add checks just because and do not lie on these evals!
Make sure the comment makes sense
Look up the swimmers number before
Aqua Tots & Aqua Babies Early Chilhood
When filling out reports for Aqua tots and Aqua babies classes it is not necessarly about checking off what skills the kids and parents have learned, the evals are used more to reitarate what was talked about in this class, and encourage them to sign up again and congrulate them on a great class in the water helping their child gain confidence in the pool! When filling out reports for Early Childhood students also remember that EC 1 is completely with support, EC2 is still with some assitance, and EC 3 is independant!
Congratualtions on finishing your Swimgen in service training! Please screenshot this slide and email a picture to Cassie at Cmaldonado@miyjcc.org.
Keep up the good work
Before you start you need the number of every swimmer you are writing a report on! Make sure you have this list!
- Based on what skills you chose in the previous bullets the program will generate a comment for the swimmer.
- Be sure to preview the generated comment to ensure it fits the student! Customize it to better suit your students as needed!
- Ensure there are correct pronouns (he/she)
- It will write them as last name, first name change it to just first name.
- Comments are used to explain what a swimmer needs to work on to continue their progression.
- Sandwich method- start with a positive comment in between should be two things to work on (phrased in a positive way) ending with another positive comment!
Pro Tip: Interactivity is the key to capturing the interest and attention of your audience. A genially is interactive because your audience explores and engages with it.
- The first step is setup
- Your supervisor is Cassie
- YOUR NAME
- Comment only is a midsemester report if changes are needed to a report card in the middle of a session
- Full report means creating an entirely new report
- Ckick next
- Here is where you select the level of the child.
- For this purpose we will be doing Learn to swim level 3
- Before you start you looked up the participants number here is where that applies.
- You put in that number of the swimmer so that the system can combine all the reports under that swimmers account
Practical Examples
Your content is liked, but it only engages if it's interactive. Capture the attention of your audience with an interactive photograph or illustration.
With this function... You can add additional content that excites your audience: videos, images, links, interactivity... Whatever you want!
We are visual beings. We are capable of understanding images from millions of years ago, even from other cultures.
Narrative beings. We tell thousands and thousands of stories. ⅔ of our conversations are stories.
Did you know... The window allows you to add more extensive content. You can enrich your genially by incorporating PDFs, videos, text... The content of the window will appear when clicking on the interactive element.
Social beings. We need to interact with each other. We learn collaboratively.
Digital beings. We avoid being part of the content saturation in the digital world.
- Here is where you begin evaluating
- The program has prompts asociated with each level this way you just select their strengths and weaknesses.
- It will also show you past reports so that you can make sure the reports allign
- YOU DO NOT WANT TO WRITE ON ONE REPORT A SWIMMER CAN DO SOMETHING AND ON THE NEXT WRITE THAT THEY SOMEHOW FORGOT A SKILL THAT LOOKS BAD ON YOU AND OUR PROGRAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- You also add whether they completed that level or not make sure this is correct as you do not want them to get a report saying they completed a level without having completed the level
- Click on pictures to expand them!
Professional Skills
Bring your creation elements to life with animation. It's impossible not to pay attention to moving content!

Basic Concepts
- We are visual beings. We are capable of understanding images from millions of years ago, even from other cultures.
- Narrative beings. We tell thousands and thousands of stories. ⅔ of our conversations are stories.
- Social beings. We need to interact with each other. We learn collaboratively.
- Digital beings. We avoid becoming part of the content saturation in the digital world.
- Creative beings. Fun is needed for creativity, creativity for innovation, innovation for success... Fun is success.
- Explorer beings. We turn visual communication into an experience when we add interactivity, animation, and storytelling.
Tools and Resources
Did you know...90% of the information we assimilate comes through sight? Visual resources are very helpful to reinforce your message: images, illustrations, gifs, videos... Not only because they remain in memory, but also because they are more attractive and easier to understand.
- It is clear and structured
- Tells stories hierarchically.
- Matches your audience.
- Adapts fonts and color to the theme.
- Includes images and entertains.

Info
- In every level there is a list of skills associated with that level that we have generated based off the American Red Cross learn to swim guidelines.
- If they have not competed a level you only check off the skills they can do
- If they have completed a level make sure you check off all the things
- NOBODY CAN LOSE A CHECKED SKILL SO MAKE SURE THEY ACTUALLY CAN DO THESE SKILLS IF A PARENT GOES HOME AND ASKS THEIR KID TO DO A SKILL YOU CHECKED OFF AND THEY CANNOT, YOU LOOK BAD!!!!!!
