Il mio semEstre in canada

Il Canada è uno stato situato nel nord America, composto da dieci province e tre territori. Questo stato presenta due lingue ufficiali: l'inglese e il francese. La popolazione, riportando dati risalenti al 2022 , si aggira attorno ai 39 millioni. Il canada è considerato il secondo paese più grande al mondo, infatti percorrendo la sua superfice si possono attraversare fino a cinque fasce orarie diverse.

La famiglia della quale ho fatto parte per sei mesi è una famiglia multietnica composta dalla mia madre ospitante russa Tatiana, mio padre ospitante Marco , proveninte dalla Giodarnia, la mia sorellina Sophia , la mia double placement giapponese Nana e il nostro cane Meshoo.

LA MIA FAMIGLIA OSPITANTE

Il paese in cui ho vissuto è situato sulla costa occidentale del Canada , più precisamente sull'isola di Vancouver nella Columbia Brittanica. Langford conta circa 46 mila abitanti e si trova nella provincia di Victoria, la quale dista 8,577 km dall'Italia. E' caratterizato dalla sua varietà paesaggistica, che inlude tre grandi laghi, diversi corsi d'acqua, catene montuose e parchi naturali.

La giornata è divisa in quattro" blocchi" separati da una pausa di cinque minuti. Ogni blocco dura un'ora e 22 minuti e corrisponde ad una lezione. A metà giornata si effettua la pausa pranzo.

BELMONT SECONDARY SCHOOL

LA MIA SCUOLA

La Belmont è una scuola superiore pubblica costruita nel 2015 a Langford. E' costituita da tre piani divisi per settori. Questa scuola ospita un totale di 1200 studenti e offre un programma per exchange students che comprende una media di 120 studenti stranieri per semestre. Le materie disponibili sono innumerevoli e disparate. Sono presenti tre palestre interne , una sala pesi, tre cucine , due campi da football esterni, quattro portali , diversi laboratori e aree esterne destinate a molteplici attività. Una giornata scolastica inizia, generalmente alle 9 di mattina e finisce alle 15:20, eccetto per il venerdì ,giorno nel quale finisce alle 14:24. Durante l'anno scolastico sono previsti diversi periodi di pausa , come lo spring break o il pro-d day.

Nel corso di questi sei mesi ho creato forti legami con persone provenienti da tutto il mondo che hanno arricchito la mia esperienza. Tutti i miei amici sono stati il mio sostegno emotivo e psicologico più importante e li considero una parte fondamente del percorso formativo.

Vancouver è una grande metropoli che dista circa due ore da Langford. Conosciuta in tutto il mondo per le sue attrazioni ed è considerata una delle città migliori in cui vivere. E' un luogo fondamentale per l'economia canadese, in quanto acclamata meta turistica e fortemente soggetta a immigrazione da parte della popolazione asiatica.

Victoria è la capitale della provincia della Columbia Britannica e sede del palazzo parlamentale. Anch'essa rientra tra le città con la più alta qualità di vita al mondo.

TOFINO

Tofino è una città situata sull'isola di Vancouver. E' famosa in tutto il mondo,specialmente tra la comunità surfista, per le sue spiaggie. E' una meta fissa per i campeggiatori e gli appassionati di natura e animali. E' molto comune , infatti, osservare balene, orche o uccelli rari.

L'isola di Galiano si trova nelle vicinanze dello stretto che separa l'isola di Vancouver da Vancouver. Conta all'incirca 1,500 abitanti ed è conosciuta per i suoi paesaggi ricchi di grotte e foreste, il clima mediterraneo e per essere stata la casa di indigeni per molto tempo.
