Which of these images shows one-point perspective?

the illusion of 3-D space and depth in a 2-D artwork.

the illusion of depth in an image created by changes in color and value.

DO you know these terms?

Annotate!Circle the dot that shows the background!

Where is the background in this image?

A color scheme that is made of the tints and shades of one color.

What does "MONOCHROMATIC"mean?

drag it here!

Which of these images shows a SKYLINE?

LOOK at this cool illusion!

The illusion of 3D space in 2D pictures or artwork.Notice the arrows all go to one spot where the objects seem to disappear?

Linear Perspective

The imaginary boundary that shows where the land meets the sky.

Horizon Line

The place where the parallel lines meet and seem to disappear. The vanishing point is always on the horizon line.

Vanishing Point

These are the parallel lines that meet at the vanishing point.

Orthogonal Lines

One-Point Perspective is a drawing method that shows the illusion of things getting smaller as they move back into space. Today you will practice this drawing method using the one-point perspective page of your Art 6 Notebook.

Today you will use...-line-shape-values-formto create this one-point perspective artwork.

One-Point Perspective Forms

Adding value can help make an artwork appear 3D!

You will be layering white and color on black construction paper. You will do this to help us show value.

Contrast is the difference between values. The bigger the difference, the higher the contrast.

Contrast

You can create contrast with color by making tints and shades of a color.

Lesson 2.4

What do you Notice?
What happens to the colors between the foreground and the background in this landscape?

As land goes further into the distance, notcie that they appear:-less intensely colored-lighter in value-softer or hazier-less detailed

Atmospheric Perspective

The illusion of depth in an image created by changes in color and value.

Atmospheric Perspective

Monochromatic

Monochromatic is Art that is created by using tints and shades of only one color. You will choose one color and use a monochromatic color scheme for your atmospheric perspective landscape today!

Monochromatic Landscape with Atmospheric Perspective

-The lightest values, or TINTS, are used in the background/sky

-Medium values are used in the middle ground

-Land features are sillouettes. They are the same tint or shade they are connected to.

-SHADES are used in the foreground

- acrylic paint- canvas board- cup of water- eraser- landscape thumbnails- paint palette- paint brushes- paper towel- pencil

Critique

Art Show

You will need:

Critique your classmates' artworks
Learn how to use the responses in a critique
Learn two different types of responses

Lesson 2.5Assignment: Critique

If your subjective response includes things that you like and do not like, it can still be helpful if it is specific.

Remember the guiding questions of a critique:

  • Is my feedback specific?
  • Is it helpful?

These kind of responses are called subjective.

This art reminds me of a funny memory.

OR

Did you ever look at an artwork and say ...

Subjective REspOnse

Subjective responses are real and valid. But they can be presented in a kind manner.

Oh, I like that art because they used my favorite colors!

What if you just stated the facts or the things you can observe in the artwork? For example

  • It is made from watercolor
  • It is monochromatic
  • it has a figure in the foreground
  • the subject is a landscape
  • the trees are overlapping

Objective REspOnse

These observations are objective because everyone can agree they are present in the artwork.

I notice the horizon line in this drawing.
This art makes me feel calm and relaxed.
This art uses primary colors.

This subject is a portrait.
Wow, I love your painting because I like animals.

Drag the responses to match

The landscape needs:

Atmospheric perspective using the correct tints and shades

A monochromatic color scheme was used

horizon line or a skyline

Before we can critque our art, we need to know the requirements...

foreground, middleground, and background

Remember the helpful critique questions:

  • What about this artwork is successful?
  • What could be changed to help improve this artwork?

Answer the critique questions for the one artwork you chose!

Choose one classmate's art and answer the two critique questions.

Share your art by creating a post and taking a picture. (remember to add your name!)

Remember to be Kind, Helpful, and Specific!

Composition is the arrangement of elements in an artwork. In a still life, the composition shows:

  • where your forms and shapes are
  • where you put the back edge of the surface the objects sit on
  • which forms are close and which are further away.

What is composition?
