Yogyakarta, Indonesia
This is a nursing placement, you will have time on numerous wards with some exposure to maternity facilities. Midwives can apply for this placement, although you will spend time on non-maternity wards.Your placement will be part of Universitas Gurdjah Mata (UGM) you will spend time with their students and go on placement together.You will have the opportunity to spend time with the community nurses and visit local villages to experience rural health care.This placement would be great for you if you want to meet students from Indonesia and have time to explore the area independently at the weekends.

How much Turing funding will I receive?Travel grant is available to WP students ONLY and will go towards the cost of your flight.

- WP student £21 per day (£588 for 28 days)
The student will receive a total of £476 towards the cost of the placement

How much will my placement cost?How much your placement will cost will depend on you.You will need to pay:
- £350 non-refundable deposit
- A visa (expected this to be around USD100)
- Individual travel insurance if you plan to do tourist trips at the weekend
- Vaccinations
- Any extra cost of your flight or accomodation not covered by the Turing funding. If you choose an expensive flight or more luxury accomodation you will need to pay for this
- Programme fee (USD150 for Indonesia, £1850 for Ecuador, no programme fee for Sri Lanka)

Funding eligibility Students who fall into the below criteria are eligible for:
- A travel grant (to partially fund the cost of travel) and
- A living grant (to partially fund accommodation etc.).
- Someone with an annual household income of £25,000 or less
- Someone who receives Universal Credit or income-related benefits because they are financially supporting:
- themselves
- themselves and someone who is dependent on them, such as a child or partner
- Someone with experience of being in care or who is a care leaver – including anyone who is or has been in care, or from a looked after background, at any stage of their life
- a carer, meaning anyone who both:
- looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction, and cannot cope without their support
- is not paid for this care
- Someone who is estranged – including anyone who has had no contact with their biological or adoptive parents for 12 months or more, or the relationship with their parents has broken down within the last 12 months
- A refugee or an asylum seeker
- Students in receipt of the ARU Bursary
- Students on the ARU Widening Access to Medicine Scheme (WAMS) scheme

- Why do we need to go for 4 weeks when we only have 3 weeks annual leave?
The government funded Turing scheme stipulates you need to be in country for 28 days. You will need to use some of your annual leave for this funded placement. Don't worry, you will get plenty of free time- always Friday, Saturday and Sunday for your leisure.
