What to Do in Case of Emergency

- Notify occupants and help those needing assistance in the immediate area.
- Confine the fire by closing doors as you exit.
- Activate the nearest fire alarm pull station.
- Evacuate the building at the nearest exit and call emergency phone number.
- Go to the designated Building Area of Refuge for your building.
- DROP (get down on the floor), COVER (protect your head and body by getting under a desk, table, or other hard object) and HOLD ON (hold onto the object you are under or your head if you are in an open area)
- Move as little as possible.
- Stay away from windows to avoid being injured by shattered glass.
- If you must leave the building after the shaking stops, use the stairs – do not use elevators in case there are aftershocks, power outages or other damage.
