Genially Enhances Literacy

Interactive Engagement

Genially enhances literacy and reading skills in K-12 students through leveraging Gardner's theory of mulitple intelligeneces anf experiential learning. Genially allows students to actively engage with text through interactive elements, promoting the concrete experience and experimentation stages of learning. This hands-on approach to reading and annotations can deepen comprehension and retention of content. Furthermore, Genially's diverse multimedia capabilities align with Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences, enabling educators and students to create content that appeals to visual-spatial, linguistic, and logical-mathematical learners simultaneously. By incorporating images, videos, and interactive quizzes alongside text, Genially supports a multi-modal approach to literacy instruction that can cater to diverse learning styles and intelligences, potentially improving overall reading outcomes for a wider range of students. From a brainbased learning approach, Genially's ability to integrate codeless programming expereince with literary content supports learners as they integrate new skills with familiar schema to construct understanding and mastery through active, authentic assignments.

Promotes active reading and text interaction, supporting Kolb's experiential learning.

About Genially

Founded in 2015 Spain, Genially CEO Juan Rubio and his team conceived the digital publishing platform with “the aim of making communication interactive,” (About Genially 2024 p.3).

Genially is a graphic design tool similar to Canva or Google Slides, (Genially 2024). However, the innovation of this creative tool lies in its interactivity features. Users can create popups and windows, link to websites, insert videos and embed quizzes in slides, interactive images and posters. Projects may be a single poster or a series of slides. Slides may be played in chronological order or on a voyage between slides and popups via linked buttons throughout the presentation. The interactive features open a world of gamified possibilities from classic SMARTboard Jeopardy to teacher-created single-player computer game experiences.

  • Accessible to teachers & students across grade levels and disciplines.
  • Offers Genially Academy to support new and seasoned users alike.
