Good Day, We are enjoying a fantastic start to the New Year. As I walk around the school I see the students reconnecting with classmates and staff, exploring new opportunities, and quickly adjusting to new schedules, routines, and expectations. Our students are exploring new opportunities in our extra-curricular activities. The number of students participating in our array of clubs and athletic programs is at a record high. The level of student engagement in and outside of the classroom is exciting and a testament to the community they live in. Thank you from us at Old Colony. We do have some important events coming up; -September 23rd Parents Night -September 28th PTO Fall Family Festival -October 5th Homecoming dance Please check out our district calendar to see the full list of exciting events coming up. Please enjoy this month's newsletter. Sincerely, Gary Linehan

Welcome back to all our students and families! We are thrilled to have you return to another fantastic school year filled with new opportunities, experiences, and successes! Let’s work together to make this year unforgettable and full of growth. Each day is a chance to learn something new and to challenge yourself to be the best version of who you can be. Wishing you all a wonderful start to the school year ahead!

COOPERATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM: 12th-grade students attended a Cooperative Education (Co-op)/Portfolio Assembly on Thursday, August 29th at 8AM. This assembly provided them with information on participating in the program. The presentation was sent to families to review. This year’s Co-op program will begin on Monday, September 23rd for those students who meet the eligibility criteria.

12-GRADE STUDENT PORTFOLIO: The Student Portfolio is a graduation requirement at Old Colony. During the past three years, your 12th-grade student, in cooperation with his/her Vocational Shop, Vocational Related, and Academic instructors, has been gathering work projects, awards, letters of recommendation, etc., to include as part of the required materials. A complete portfolio must be assembled by the end of the second trimester, March 7, 2024. Your student’s instructors may set earlier deadlines for sections of the portfolio to assist them in meeting the portfolio requirement. It is the student’s responsibility to meet all deadlines and there will be consequences for missed deadlines. We enlist your support and cooperation in having your child meet these important deadlines. 12th-grade students attended a Cooperative Education/Portfolio Assembly on Thursday, August 29th at 8AM. This assembly provided them with a review of the portfolio requirements. The presentation was sent to families to review.

EXPLORATORY PROGRAM: 9th-grade students began their Exploratory Program on Monday, September 9th and the program is off to a great start! On Friday, September 6th at 1:45PM there was an Exploratory Program Assembly to review the program and its expectations. Students received a copy of their Exploratory Program Schedule and the Exploratory Program Overview Handout. A copy of the Handout and Presentation was also sent to families following the presentation. This information is also available on the school website. Just a reminder to take time to review the expectations and requirements for each vocational program, included in the Exploratory Program Overview, prior to entering each exploratory program session in their rotation. These expectations and requirements will have an impact on the student’s exploratory grade, which could affect the student’s ultimate vocational program assignment.
