There is also worry about the work that has been missed. There were some computer lessons in the last two years, but many homes do not have TV, electricity or internet, so students could not learn at home. These children need to work very hard to learn quickly. Many might quit. Students in school will need to be safe. Face masks must be worn at school to avoid harm from the virus. The children must try to stay apart, especially as there are more sick people. Still, it will be great for children to see friends, play and learn together again.

Parents pay for high school in Uganda, and after difficulty through the Pandemic with jobs and money, many families cannot pay to send their teenagers back. Older children may now be working in jobs to help their families, and cannot return to school. Some others may have families of their own now.

After 83 weeks of closure in many areas of the African country of Uganda, millions of children are returning to school. The Pandemic forced schools to close in March, 2020 and most open for the first time in January, 2022. This is the longest school closure in the world. Teachers, students and families are happy to return to school, but they are also worried.
