Features of Future Mobile Gaming
content
Accessibility: Mobile gaming is very accessible as you do not need to buy a TV or console to do it.
AR & VR (Augmented & Virtual Reality): Many mobile games are now using AR & VR technologies which make the gaming experience feel more real.
Artificial Intelligence (AI): Mobile games now employ generative AI to generate new levels based on player performance etc.
Hyper-casual games are simple yet addictive. Crosswords, wordsearch, and tic tac toe are examples of many such games. They are popular because of their ability to keep the user hooked despite lacking complex gameplay.

Hyper-casual games
We all might remember how wordle shot up in popularity during the COVID 19 pandemic. It was a simple concept and yet people would look forward to it everyday.

Gaming was previously believed to be an isolating activity which meant being in a room with headphones on and playing all by yourself. However, mobile gaming has changed that. Many popular mobile games now have social features such as the option to chat with other players, play with strangers or friends anywhere in the world, built in activity feed, scoreboard etc. These features have helped players feel like they have an online community they can hang out and interact with.

FaceGame is a mobile gaming application that features hyper-casual games with the option to video call with your opponent. The games are set to a timer and once the timer is up, the scoreboard is displayed.

Pokemon Go was one of the first games to incorporate Augmented Reality so people could feel like they are truly finding pokemons in their homes or environments. It got extremely popular with not only younger crowds but people of all ages.

Pokemon Go has social features as well. You can meet and play with other players, and also send and receive gifts from friends.
Pokemon Go
Since Pokemon Go uses Augmented Reality, it can alter your surroundings and if you keep moving around while looking at your phone, there is a chance you might trip or fall, seriously injuring yourself. Hence, they provide a warning as well.

Once you catch your Pokemon, you can take a picture with it in your own environment.
I recently discovered Offline Games which is an application with many simple games and it works with or without the internet. This solves the problem of having access to internet to be able to play a simple game.

Offline games has a wide selection of games you can choose from including some of the classics like hangman etc.
Offline games
When you select which game to play, it prompts you to a set of instructions and to select a difficulty level. Once selected, you can start playing.

Mobile gaming has been popular in classrooms as well in the last few years with the introduction of Kahoot and Duolingo etc. However, I believe there is a lot more potential there. With mobile devices now available to every student, they can be used for drills at the beginning of class, or exit tickets beyond Kahoot. Students can use AR to do a scavenger hunt in their school or classroom, or interact with objects in their environment and learn about their properties.

Mobile gaming has come a long way with the introduction of live chatting and video calling, incorporation of AR, VR, and AI, and making applications accessible even without the internet, TV, or console. Some other features that I feel are still missing and would like to see in future mobile game applications, is some sort of parental supervision which could help remove some of the apprehension parents may have when children interact with strangers online.
My Take & Conclusion
content
With the help of Augmented Reality, players can speak to opponents while projecting them in their environment, making the experience feel even more real.
