Friends

“Hi guys,” Kadie shouted when she saw her friends waiting on the street corner. “I hope you haven’t been waiting long, the bus took forever.” Elliot replied, “I just got here myself. The train was packed, too.” Penny gave her friend a quick hug and then said. “I’m starving. Where should we go to eat.” Elliot immediately suggested, “Let’s go to Handy’s Hamburger Hut, I would love to have a hamburger right now.”

Kadie shook her head, “That’s not a great idea. They don’t have anything without meat.” Elliot stammered, “That’s- that’s right, Kadie, I- I am- I’m sorry. I forgot you are a vegetarian.” "What about Riso’s Rice?” Penny suggested. “Rice doesn’t have gluten, so I can eat it, and they have lots of rice dishes without meat.” This time Elliot shook his head.

“I really, really hate rice,” he stated. “If there is nothing else, I will go there and eat the lettuce bowl, but I would prefer not to.” “We don’t want you to eat something you don’t like,” Penny asserted quickly. “I’m sure there is another option that we will all enjoy.” “What about Sal’s Diner?” Kadie suggested.

"I hate Sal's Diner!" Penny shouted. "The rice is bland and the vegetables are raw." "You are just being difficult," stated Elliot. "Sal's Diner is a great place." "If you like it so much, you can go there without me," Penny replied. "Fine," Kadie shouted. "You are such a baby!"

Conflict

Penny finally agreed to go to Sal's Diner and she did enjoy her meal. Once they were finished, they had to decide where to go next. “I really need to buy some new shoes,” Penny said. “Let’s go to the Strand.” “The Strand is so crowded on Saturdays,” Kadie complained. “I was really hoping to walk somewhere quiet and calm.” "We always have to do what you want," Penny said angrily. "I want to buy shoes. I'm going to the Strand to go shopping."

Elliot complained. “I really wanted to hear the new band that’s playing on the River Walk. I don't want to go shopping." "I refuse to go to the River Walk," Kadie asserted. "It is way too noisy there." The three stared angrily at each other with their arms crossed. No one was willing to compromise, so they ended up walking in opposite directions.
