What's (the) Matter?
Physics is Phun!
My physics book, it weighs a ton, And my homework sitch was dire. I thought that I would have some fun, So I set the book on fire. The flames, they burned as high as a tree, And the teacher's look was strange. But he wasn’t mad, he just gave meA test on chemical change.

Burning paper is a chemical change.
Chemical changes in matter
Matter can sometimes have chemical changes. Chemical changes are anything that is done to make a substance change into another substance. Chemical changes can cause a substance to have a different color, smell differently, or taste differently. When there is a chemical change it is impossible to reverse the process and go back to the original substance. If you burn a piece of paper, that paper is now ash and you will never be able to get the paper back.
When fireworks explode, there is a chemical change.
Chemical changes happen all around us all the time. We use chemical changes to heat our houses, move our cars and digest our food. When food rots, that is a chemical change. Rust on a metal gate has caused a chemical change. If you go to watch a firework show, you will watch a chemical change.
The power plant provides us with electricity.
The study of matter and its many different changes is important as we explore different energy sources and ways to improve our carbon footprint and reduce greenhouse gasses. Physicists are constantly researching ways to increase efficiency and reduce pollution of all the processes that are necessary for life. If you find this subject interesting, perhaps you should become a physicist.
