Georgia Aquarium, located in Atlanta, Georgia, in the south of the United States, is an incredible place to visit. This is one of the largest aquariums in the world and is host to more than 100,000 sea creatures. Its exhibits use more than 11 million gallons of water for fish and sea creatures to live in. The aquarium has seven major galleries, each of which contains its own underwater habitat. There are lots of things to learn about and explore in this amazing aquarium.

A Visit to Georgia Aquarium

First, let’s learn about the Cold Water Quest exhibit, which holds animals that live in the coldest parts of the world. This exhibit has more mammals than the other exhibits, and it is where we can find sea otters and beluga whales. The sea otter is one of the smallest marine mammals, and it lives all over the world. It inhabits the area next to the shore and eats the small sea creatures found there.Sea otters spend a lot of their time grooming themselves and can often be seen cleaning their fur and removing tangles. While they eat, they roll around in the water to make sure that no food gets stuck in their fur.

Another marine mammal found in the icy waters is the beluga whale. Even though it is much bigger than a sea otter, it is actually one of the smallest whales. Its body is almost completely white. It has two small fins on its sides and no fins on its back. Having no dorsal fin allows the beluga whale to swim easily right underneath the ice. Beluga whales are slower swimmers than other whales, so they live in large groups for protection.

Next, let's leave the cold and visit the massive display of coral reefs and warm-weather creatures in the Tropical Diver exhibit. Here the fish are smaller but much more colorful than those found in cold water. There are more than fifty types of tropical fish, including distinctive clownfish, beautiful angelfish and elegant seahorses. One of the most dangerous animals in the sea can be found in this tropical exhibit, the jellyfish. Jellyfish are marine animals with a body shaped like an umbrella and tentacles that float below. These tentacles can sting, and are used to paralyze prey and get something to eat. Jellyfish sting more than a million people every year and can cause severe pain, paralysis and even death.

A sea otter is smaller than a beluga whale.

A beluga whale likes colder temperatures than a clown fish.

Georgia Aquarium is the smallest aquarium in the world.

A whale shark is smaller than a jellyfish.
