Nate turned red but then slowly raised his hand, “I have a few questions about-” he started to comment. “The information has been explained three time, Nathan Alexander. Now be quiet.”
Michael sat at his desk hunched over his textbook, making notes and trying to organize the information he was reading in his head. Nate kicked the leg of his chair and then whispered, “I don’t understand anything.” Michael turned slightly to answer, but Ms. Schneider hollered out, “No talking!”

Michael sighed and looked back to his book. Instead of reading, he began making a list of the things he needed to finish for the project due on Friday. Just before the bell rang, Ms. Schneider came to the front of the class and announced. “We’ll be having a unit exam on Friday.

Chapters 9 to 11. Please come prepared.” The whole class groaned and started muttering. “Our final project is due on Friday,” Michael said angrily. “How can we have time to study?” Ms. Schneider arched her eyebrows and Michael decided not to pursue the issue.
Reading
plenty
“The project should have been finished by now. We’ve had three weeks. I, myself, am almost done.” “That’s not helpful, Missy. Besides, you’re not in any extracurricular activities. You have plenty of time to do your schoolwork.
“Can you even believe it?” Michael shouted as soon as he was out in the hallway. “I can’t possibly study for an exam and finish a project in the same night. I’ve got track practice after school every day and I have to babysit my sister on Wednesday night.” Nate nodded, but their friend Missy shook her head.
Reading
reasonable
“I’m going to talk to her,” Michael said suddenly. “She is a reasonable person, and I think I can make her see how unreasonable this schedule is.” He took a deep breath and went back into the classroom.
Missy glared at Michael, so Nate cut in. “I think we should do something. Maybe we should tell our parents how unfair it is.” Missy laughed. “Do you think Ms. Schneider will care what your parents say? She’s been teaching here for almost 30 years. Nobody is going to win an argument with her.”
“Can I help you, Mr. Welden?” “Ms. Schneider, um. I was, um. Well, I just wanted to talk about Friday. You know we have a big project due that day, so I think it is unfair to ask us to study on that same night. Um, could we possibly move the exam to Monday?”
Reading
Ms. Schneider shook her head and smirked. “No, sir. I’m afraid I can’t do that. The project has been assigned for three weeks. I told you all multiple times that you should take advantage of your time and finish it early. The exam will be on Friday, and I hope you learn a lesson from this.”

The dog caught the frisbee in its mouth and then threw it on the ground. Mark had already picked up the frisbee and thrown it toward the river six times that day. Mark threw the frisbee again, but this time the dog saw a rabbit. The rabbit saw the dog and began running. While the dog was chasing the rabbit, the rabbit dropped a carrot from its mouth. The dog stopped chasing the rabbit and picked the carrot up. The dog ran back toward Mark and gave him the carrot. Mark ate the gross, dirty carrot because he was hungry.
