transformation
The high school has been the scene of an amazing culinary transformation this school year. The school cafeteria will be offering a salad bar, a deli counter, a roast meat station and taco stand. Student Council President Erik Robbick made all of this possible along with local merchants and prize money from city hall.

“Erik submitted a project in our grant competition that was too good to pass up,” says Mayor Burgeon. “The prize was 10,000 dollars, which he used to negotiate with the local butcher, deli and bakery to bring fresh products to the school every morning.” Erick also asked the metalworks class to consider creating the counters and shelves necessary for the new food. He was able to use existing refrigerators and the carpentry class finished installing the counters and shelves in a week.

imagine
“I am so excited for the salad bar,” says student Sean. “I don’t think I have ever eaten a vegetable in this cafeteria.” “I can’t wait for the fresh bread,” says senior Vero. “I always went to Graham’s Bakery in the morning anyway, and now I just imagine eating my morning toast here at school and getting some studying done at the same time.”

negotiating
The brand new cafeteria will open on Monday morning, and many students admit feeling very excited. The best part of the new cafeteria is that Erik was able to use the prize money and some excellent negotiating skills to lower the prices of all of the items in the cafeteria. “Students will actually be able to get better food for less money than they spent last year,” he says.
