What do you do if you think something that someone tells you is not true?
report

Reading

One of the biggest problems in society these days is the use of social media to spread fake news. Although many of the social media companies say they are taking steps to stop fake news, I have seen little evidence of this. I still open my Facebook account every day and find friends posting news that is quite obviously false. I usually comment with a source that shows that their news is false, and sometimes I report the post, but it is rarely taken down.
abuse

Reading

Even worse than fake posts, are the comments. Every day I read hundreds of comments where people provide opinions that don’t make sense, give bad advice or just attack other users because they disagree. If you respond to some of these comments, you often receive abuse yourself. I really try not to engage with these users, but when I see people posting things that are fake, I get truly angry.
manipulative

Reading

Another problem with social media is that it seems to be filled with more and more advertisements every day. Sometimes the ads are made to look like they are from your friends, which makes you pay attention to them. I think this is quite manipulative. The social media apps also use things from your search history to give you targeted ads. So, you should make sure you check your privacy settings.
reputable

Reading

In conclusion, everyone should be aware that not everything they find online is true. You should make sure to verify any information you see with a reputable source. Remember that many of the advertisements are from sites that offer low quality goods or operate as scams. Be wary and navigate with caution, there are a lot of potential dangers out there.
