What are some suggestions that Kat could give her friend?

Hi Mary, I am sorry to hear about your problems at school, but let me tell you, there is no need for such angst. Nothing here is ideal either. It may be a bigger city, but that does not make it better. My apartment building is under construction, so now on top of the noise from the neighbors and the cars and the smell from the restaurant, I have to deal with banging and clunking and heavy machines running. They wake me up at 6 in the morning. I wish I could have a nice quiet house with my own bedroom in the suburbs.

Orchestra isn’t going to be any fun this year because Ms. Javine left and the new conductor is a huge drag. He is constantly in a bad mood, even though there is no reason for it. He comes in and yells at us for about ten minutes before we are allowed to start playing. They also decided that the cross-country team could only go to three competitions last year, because the teachers complained that we missed too much school last year. So, I won’t be running too much at all.

Mr. Paulsen gave us this huge, year-long project to work on that has to be fifty typed pages, with resources and references about the different plants and animals in the area. It is going to be worth sixty percent of our grades. Right now everyone is freaking out about it and I know that it is going to take up almost all of my spare time. You’re lucky you get to relax and be bored in easy classes. If you want, I could send you some of my work to do (ha ha).

I notice that you still say “back home,” but Mary, you have to realize that Drumbville is your home now and you have the responsibility for making it a good experience. I know you can find friends and new activities to enjoy. Maybe you could ask your teachers for extra credit or self-study projects so that you are not so bored. I’m sure you can turn the situation around and have a positive experience. Talk to you soon, Kat

I can't believe they gave Jerome all of the for the project. He didn't write a single page of the report and he only ever found one about the topic. You have no idea how much he has caused me, waiting for him to do some of the work. The has to be crazy to give him a solo as a reward, because Jerome is the laziest person I know.
