pickup
“It was a good thing that that big pickup came by and scared the dog away,” I said. Carrie nodded, “I remember that it was going so fast, I thought it was going to fly off the road.” “And then we got to the corner and we were all so out of breath, and hot and sweaty and we didn’t have any water,” Jenna laughed. “And that’s when I swallowed the fly,” Damon shouted. “I was breathing so hard and it just flew in my mouth and I couldn’t stop from swallowing it.” We all gasped and laughed remembering the moment.

cough
“You turned bright red,” I remembered. “And you coughed and coughed, but it wouldn’t come back up.” “That was the most disgusting thing ever,” Damon pretended to throw up and then he looked me in the eye. “But, if I have already eaten a fly, I think it is only fair that you eat one, too.” “I already told you, I am not going to eat a fly,” I responded. “I bet there is not one good thing about that hideous creature.” “Actually,” Jenna said as she opened up her phone again.

cascade
“I bet if you were starving, you would eat a fly,” Jenna said. “I once read a story about an old man who got lost in the woods. He had been walking with his family to a waterfall, and while his family was looking at the cascades, he wandered off the path and got lost. He tried to find them, but the noise from the waterfall was so loud that they couldn’t hear him shouting. He tripped on a root and fell down a hill and hurt his ankle, so he couldn’t walk back up.”

limp
“What happened to him,” Damon asked with a worried look. “He stayed on the ground for a few hours waiting for someone to find him, but it was already dark, so he had to sleep right there on the ground. The first night he wasn’t so hungry, but when he woke up, he knew he had to find something to eat. First he tried to catch a fish in the river, but he didn’t have a net or a pole or anything, so that was pretty much impossible. Then he limped around looking for berries or mushrooms.”
Reading
poisonous
“A lot of mushrooms are poisonous,” Carrie interjected. “I hope he didn’t eat any mushrooms.”Jenna assured her, “He didn’t eat any mushrooms. And he didn’t find any berries, either. What he did find was a pile of worms in the dirt, so he ate those.”“Ew!” we all cried out in unison.“And then he found some beetles and a caterpillar. And when it got dark, he caught fireflies and ate those.”

make it
“So what happened to him?” I finally shouted out. “Did he make it?” Jenna nodded, “He did. Thanks to all the bugs he found in the woods.” We were all silent for a moment, thinking about the man surviving on bugs. “There are a lot of people starving in the world,” Damon finally said. “I wonder if bugs could be a solution for world hunger.” “Actually, I think some companies have started selling bugs for humans to eat,” Carrie said.
