Last year the 30 locally-made items were sold at the very successful auction.

The wrestling team will host its annual bake sale and curiosities auction to raise money to pay for travelling costs to the National competition later this year. The bake sale will take place in front of the department store on Saturday morning from 9 am until 2. Last year the team raised over 5,000 dollars, which allowed them to travel in a luxurious bus and spend two nights in a hotel. All of their hard-work paid off when the team placed third in the tournament.

Ms. Shaw's vegan brownies, made without milk, butter or eggs, are sure to be popular again this year.

The bake sale will include cookies, muffins, cupcakes and brownies made by the wrestlers’ families. The goodies will have options including, nut-free, gluten-free and vegan cookies. Last year the brownies made by Ms. Shaw were easily the best thing on the table. Ms. Shaw is the mother of Edmund, who will be wrestling in the heavy-weight division this year.

Alongside the bake sale, there will be a silent auction of objects donated by merchants in the town. Notably, Cutter’s Butcher Shop has given a basket of various cuts of beef whereas Perk Up has offered a large tin of freshly ground coffee. Mr. Jenkins from the art gallery has painted an original watercolour of the town’s main street for the event.

The bake sale begins at 9 in the morning and Mr. Bundger, the wrestling coach, promises that, unlike last year, there will be enough baked goods this year to last all day. The silent auction ends at half past one, and the winners will be announced shortly after. If any one in the community would like to donate to the silent auction, they can contact Mr. Bundger at the school. Please come out and buy some goodies. All of the support is greatly appreciated.
