I’d like to congratulate the town hall, the school and all of the wrestlers and their families for another excellent fundraiser this year. I arrived early and was able to sample a delectable, sweet cherry muffin and got a gigantic chocolate cookie to eat after lunch. The selection of baked goods was truly excellent and I was thrilled to see so many different options. The gluten-free cookies in particular were a great addition this year since I know many of the people in town have Celiac disease.

The silent auction was a lot of fun! I loved seeing all of the different items from the different shops in town. I had my heart set on the toolbox from Hal’s Hardware, but I didn’t win this time. I’ll have to go to buy one of my own next week. Mr. Jenkins’s watercolor painting was astonishing, and I am sure it will look gorgeous hanging in the new boutique.

One thing that I don’t understand is why the wrestling team needs to rely on donated money in order to travel to their tournaments. The football team travels six times every year and they never have to have a fundraiser. Meanwhile, the other sports have to raise money to pay for everything. I think the school ought to pay for all of the sports equally. That is only fair. Moreover, it would encourage more students to participate in athletic activities if they knew they didn’t have to worry about money.

In conclusion, the fundraiser was a huge success this year, but I hope the school will make changes so that it isn’t necessary in the future. Although, if there hadn’t been a bake sale, I wouldn’t have been able to witness the race between the mayor and her husband to try to get Ms. Shaw’s last brownie.
