The annual bake sale to benefit the wrestling team was an absolute disaster this year. To start with, the majority of the baked goods were gone when I arrived shortly after noon. Despite Coach Bundger’s assurance that there were enough cookies to last all day, I found only a few meager sugar-free cupcakes and two brownies on the table. Rather than go without, I bought a brownie, but it was dry and disgusting.

I didn’t win anything in the silent auction, not that I tried too hard. The cut of beef from the butcher was tiny and the coffee beans from Perk Up smelled terrible. The electronic shop donated a watch, but it was last year’s model and I can’t believe anyone would want to have that. On the other hand, Mr. Jenkins’s painting was beautiful, but it was too big to fit in my house.

This year looked like it was successful, and I am sure the wrestling team made a lot of money, but I wonder why they bother to go to the tournament every year. Usually they don’t do well. Not one wrestler won their individual events, and the team only placed third. Moreover, no one really cares about wrestling, as it is a boring sport. I would much rather watch football instead.

In conclusion, I hope the town hall and the school will rethink this spectacle for next year. It did nothing but cause a traffic jam in the center of town and leave many people, myself included, disappointed. The school could offer a wrestling exhibition at the school, and ask people to donate money to watch. Alternatively, the wrestling team could just decide not to travel to the competition next year.
