When her mom pulled up to the curb, Jenny leaned her head in and said, “Is it alright if I go to Stacey’s house for a while? Her mom can drive me home later.” Jenny’s mom thought for a second while Sammy climbed in the back seat. “Sure honey, that’s fine. Try to be home before nine, okay.” Jenny nodded and waved as her mom pulled away. As soon as the car was out of sight, she turned around and dashed back through the park and down Main Street toward the bank.

What do you think you’re doing? A part of her brain was screaming at her to stop, go back to the police station and turn the money in. In my opinion, I did nothing wrong. It’s finders keepers. Jenny argued with herself. Jeremy is lucky that he’s getting his ID and credit card back. I completely disagree. You know that what you’re doing is wrong. Maybe this will teach Jeremy to take better care of his things. Jenny shook her head and pulled out her ATM card. Once she had extracted her fifty dollars, she stopped having any doubts.

jaywalked
The clothing shop was almost directly across the street, and Jenny didn’t want to waste time walking to the corner. She waited for a gap in the cars and jaywalked right up to the store. “How can I help you?” A tall, older lady came to Jenny’s side. “ I’d like to try on that dress that’s in the window,” Jenny answered. The shopkeeper nodded and announced, “I’d estimate that you’re about a size eight?” she asked. Jenny answered with a big smile, “That’s absolutely correct.”

silk
Jenny left the fitting room with a huge smile on her face. She quickly paid for the dress in cash and then left the store, with a tiny designer bag on her arm. She stopped at the corner to touch the soft silk. She imagined herself wearing the dress on the first day of school, while all of her classmates stared in awe. She reminded herself that she needed a haircut before school started. Then she messaged her friend Stacey. - Hey, fancy meeting up for dinner?
